What was it like?

Here are some pictures of the first Swaposium: Pittsburgh and Dundee, Masters Communication & Interaction design meets Design Ethnography and Masters of Design. A heady mix.

We tried it with 2 groups in two different time zones, and they seem to want more. We now have a list of schools they want to speak to, and a successful pilot under our belt. So we will be doing more. If you would like to hear more, or join in, please let us know.

Feedback was really useful, and we are looking to do a lot more in the New Year! Hot on our list to speak with are IIT Chicago, ITP New York, CMU HCII, Stanford D School, Asian Design School, RCA London, Domus, Potsdam IXD, TU Delft, Copenhagen IXD, Hongik Uni Korea.

And a slideshow here if you prefer!

Thank you to the guinea pigs/extreme user piloteers!

A huge thanks to all of you who joined us today in Dundee and Pittsburgh!

That was a fastinating first run, and we'd love to do it again.

We did a feedback for for all of the guys here, and they really enjoyed the questions and the chance to think about them together. I'm not so sure everyone gets the chance to talk about what they see is their way of doing and thinking about things, so these reflections were new and valuable.

I think starting with food is a better way - too disruptive at our end I think.

We have some nice films of people from your end answering the questions, and will post these too.

And I would love to hear your thoughts...!

Gill

First Pliot booked

I am asking grad students at CMU school of Design to help me pilot an idea for an exchange between Masters of Design students across the world. With the MDes students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, we are good to go for our first session.

We will be in MM 121 on 11th October at 11.45 sharp where we will pose questions and answer questions with this group of students from the UK who are also trying to make sense of what it means to be a designer today.

In just one hour, we will exchange questions and responses, and see what happens.
We can decide what we want to do with it next.

And in exchange I will bring some tasty lunch, and some drinks. And will post what happens!

Here is the invite....
